There are multiple dua of journey you can recite.
1. While leaving your home, you should say:
Bismillāhi Tawakkaltu ‘Alallāh, Lā Hawla Wa Lā Quwwata Illā Billāh
Meaning: (I am going out) in the Name of Allah. I have depended on Allah. There is no might and no power except by Allah.
– Abu Daud, Hadith: 5095; Tirmidhi, Hadith: 3426
2. While getting in a vehicle, you should say: Bismillah. When you are already in the vehicle, say: Alhamdulillah. (Abu Dawud, Hadith: 2602)
3. Then you have to recite the famous dua of riding a vehicle:
Subhānalladhī Sakhkhara Lanā Hādhā, Wa Mā Kunnā Lahū Muqrinīn, Wa Innā Ilā Rabbinā Lamunqalibūn.
Meaning: Glory is to Him Who has subdued this (vehicle) to us, and we were not able to do it on our own. Surely, unto our Lord, we are returning.
– Sura Zukhruf: 14; Abu Dawud, Hadith: 2602
4. Then you can recite the dua of journey:
Allāhumma Innā Nas’aluka Fī Safarinā Hāzā Al Birra Wattaqwā, Wa Minal ‘Amali Mā Tardā
Meaning: O Allah, we ask You in our travel for righteousness, taqwa, and good deeds that make you happy.
Allāhumma Hawwin ‘Alainā Safaranā Hāzā, Watwi ‘Annā Bu’dah
Meaning: O Allah! make our travel easy, and shorten the distance for us.
Allāhumma Antas Sāhibu Fis Safar Wal Khalīfatu Fil Ahl. Allāhumma Innī A’ūzu Bika Min Wa’athāis Safar, Wa Kabatil Manzar, Wa sūil Munqalabi Fil Māli Wal Ahl
O Allah! You are our Companion in travel and the guardian of our family (in our absence). O Allah! I seek refuge in You from the hardships of travel, a sight of grief, and from an unfortunate occurance in wealth and family.
– Muslim, Hadith: 3254
