It is derived from the Qur’an when Prophet Yunus found himself in the belly of a whale, overwhelmed by his situation. The Story of the Prophet Yunus
The event of the prophet Yunus is mentioned in the Noble Quran, Surah Al-Ambiya, Verse: 87-88:
And (remember) the fishman (Yunus), when he departed angrily, thinking I (Allah) would not constrain him. He called out in the darkness, ‘There is no deity except You; exalted are You. Indeed, I have been among the wrongdoers.’ So I responded to him and saved him from distress. And thus I save the believers.
