Making dua is a beautiful way to seek help and clarity in Islam. Whether you’re feeling overwhelmed or just want to focus better, the dua for studying can make all the difference.
The Quranic Dua for Studying
Al-Quran, Surah Taa Haa (114): And, [O Muhammad], do not hasten with [recitation of] the Qur’an before its revelation is completed to you, and say:
رَبِّ زِدْنِيْ عِلْمًا
Rabbi Zidnī ‘Ilmā
(My Lord, increase me in knowledge.)
Dua of prophet for beneficial knowledge
Sunan Ibn Majah, Hadith 925: It was narrated from Umme Salamah that when the Prophet (Sallallahu ‘Alaihi Wasallam) performed the Subh (morning prayer), while he said the Salam, he would say:
اَللَّهُمَّ إِنِّيْ أَسْأَلُكَ عِلْمًا نَافِعًا، وَرِزْقًا طَيِّبًا، وَعَمَلاً مُتَقَبَّلاً
Allāhumma Innī As-aluka ‘Ilman Nafi’ā, Wa Rizqan Tayyibā, Wa ‘Amalam Mutaqabbalā
(O Allah, I ask You for beneficial knowledge, goodly provision and acceptable deeds).
Dua for Difficulty in Studying
اَللَّهُمَّ لاَ سَهْلَ إِلاَّ مَا جَعَلْتَهُ سَهْلاً، وَأَنْتَ تَجْعَلُ الْحَزَنَ إِذَا شِئْتَ سَهْلاً
Allāhumma Lā Sahla Illā Ma Ja’altahū Sahlā, Wa Anta Taj’alul Hazana Idhā Shi-ta Sahlā
(O Allah, there is no ease other than what You make easy. If You please You ease sorrow.)
Sahih Ibn Hibban, Hadith 2427
