3 Best Dua To Thank Allah That Will Surely Please Him

In Islamic terminology, Shukr is the best word to describe thanking Allah and expressing gratitude to Him. We must recite the dua to thank Allah and show our thankfulness for His countless blessings in our lives every day.

In the Holy Quran, The Almighty Allah says:

“If you are grateful, I will surely increase you [in favor]; but if you deny, indeed, My punishment is severe.” (Surah Ibrahim 14:7)

#1 General Dua to Thank Allah

It is mentioned in hadith that the best way to thank Allah is to praise him. (Sahih Muslim 2734)

The most common phrase for thanking Allah among Muslims is Alhamdulillah, which means All praise is to Allah.

#2 Beneficial Dua to Thank Allah

Narrated that the Prophet Muhammad said:

“If anyone says (the dua below) in the morning, he will have expressed full thanksgiving for the day; and if anyone says the same in the evening, he will have expressed full thanksgiving for the night. Abu Dawud, Hadith 5073

There is a slight difference between the dua for the morning and the evening.

Morning Dua

Allāhumma mā asbaha bī min ni’matin aw bi ahadim min khalqik, fa minka wahdak, lā sharīka lak, falakal hamdu wa lakash shukr

(O Allah, whatever blessing has been received by me or by anyone of Your creation in the morning, is from You alone. You have no partner. All praise is for you and thanks is to You).

Evening Dua

Allāhumma mā amsā bī min ni’matin aw bi ahadim min khalqik, fa minka wahdak, lā sharīka lak, falakal hamdu wa lakash shukr

(O Allah, whatever blessing has been received by me or by anyone of Your creation in the evening, is from You alone. You have no partner. All praise is for you and thanks is to You).

#3 Meaningful Dua to Thank Allah

It was narrated that Aishah Ra. said: When the Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him) saw something he liked, he would say:

اَلْحَمْدُ لِلَّهِ الَّذِيْ بِنِعْمَتِهِ تَتِمُّ الصَّالِحَاتُ

Al-Hamdu Lillaahil-Ladhi Bi Ni’matihii Tatimmus Saalihaat

(Praise is to Allah by Whose grace good deeds are completed).

And if he saw something that he disliked, he would say:

اَلْحَمْدُ لِلَّهِ عَلَى كُلِّ حَالٍ

Al-Hamdu Lillaahi ‘Alaa Kulli Haal

(Praise is to Allah in all circumstances).

Sunan Ibn Majah, Hadith 3803
